I know what you’re thinking—she’s finally cracked! No, but I wonder if you know what these three extremely different nouns can have in common. Any ideas? 😊 

The other day, hubby was making poached eggs. He does this rather often for breakfast and he’s quite good at it, but usually he will ask me to check them to make sure they are done. Do you cook them for 3 minutes or 4? 

This past week we had about 6 inches of snow. Unlike the snow we got earlier in the month, this snow was fluffy and light. Our driveway is paved, but there is a turnaround, so it’s rather wide at that point. What is the best way to clear away the snow?

In 2015, three of our grandchildren arrived: Callie in March, Samuel in May, and Caleb—our Christmas baby. Callie is doing second grade work, Samuel, first, and Caleb, kindergarten. They are all 6 years old. Shouldn’t they all be in first grade?

What they have in common is uniqueness. You can set your timer for 3.5 minutes, but the egg size varies as well as its viscosity (white-store-bought vs. brown-farm-fresh). A dry fluffy snow may mean that you can heave it easier and make less trips back and forth with your shovel as compared to the dreaded heavy, wet snow. And children are, oh, so different! Of course, the biggest difference our 2015 babies have is several months in age. But birth order, gender (sorry, but TRUE!!), aptitude, experience, parents—all these things go together to make each child unique. We often refer to the snowflakes as an example of uniqueness, but truly mankind is the ultimate in uniqueness! The most identical twins are still very unique. 

So, in this age of embracing diversity, praise God for the co-worker whose mind and manner are so different from yours! When hubby sees blue and you see pink (read Love and Respect by Emerson Eggerichs), praise God for his uniqueness and allow it to grow your patience and Christlikeness. The mandate is to love as Jesus loved, which Ron Hamilton expressed so well in the following lyrics:

and they turned the man away
Till they saw the Lord’s compassion

Uniqueness, diversity—we are all special in God’s eyes. And aren’t you glad?

“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well “ (Psalm 139:14).

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5).
