foot-washing1We’ve enjoyed most of Downton Abbey.  For the most part, it’s been quite entertaining, thought-provoking and informative about a time in English history of which I knew very little.

However, one scene caught my eye in the last episode.  Some of the servants had traveled to Scotland where the family were visiting relatives.  As the visiting servants joined the others, they were referred to as Lord and Lady Grantham instead of by their own names.  In other words, Mrs. Bates, who attended Lady Grantham would be called Lady Grantham among the servants.

Isn’t that also true about our Lord and Master?  Are we not called Christians?  Oh, how that term is bantered about so loosely!  Those servants’ lives were totally dedicated to their lords and ladies!  They stood erect, waiting upon their every need.  They held their jackets while they dressed and then brushed them.  They coiffed the lady’s hair and held the towel for her as she exited the bath.

How’s your service?  Oh, how rebuked I’ve been.  I’m afraid my service is shoddy at best.  Is my eye focused on the Master’s face, just waiting for the opportunity to serve Him?  I’m afraid not – and remember, He is the one that said:

“And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.“Matthew 25:40

So, take the rebuke, put on the apron, pick up the towel and keep listening for the trump and his beautiful words: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant!

I've been blogging for several years now, and continue to be thankful for the opportunity to share my heart, as well as hone my writing skills. When I was urged to write about my passion, three things came to mind: my God, my family, and music. I am a born-again believer of Jesus Christ. My doctrine is Baptist, my stand is fundamental. I love the Word of God and want to share how it has changed my life. It is my primary passion; however, my family is the close second! God has blessed me with a wonderful godly husband who has led me and discipled me in my walk with Christ. God also gave us three wonderful children who, along with their spouses, all love the Lord and are passionate soldiers in God's army as well. Add seven grandchildren, and my heart is overflowing with praise to my God! Music comes in third and is a great burden on my heart. We all need to find what is acceptable and pleasing to God in this area. Like every area of the Christian life, we cannot just choose music because we like it.

  1. Definitely imagine that that you stated. Your favorite reason appeared
to be at the net the easiest factor to remember of.
I say to you, I definitely get annoyed while other folks
think about concerns that they plainly do not recognise about.
You managed to hit the nail upon the highest as neatly as outlined out the whole thing without having side effect ,
other people can take a signal. Will probably be again to
    get more. Thank you

    1. Thanks for stopping by! My husband and I were in Jerusalem in 2011. What a wonderful experience! You might enjoy my book, “Twelve Smooth Stones.” It’s about a Jewish girl who survives Auschwitz and moves to Israel. The research was quite an eye-opener for me.
