Yesterday, I attended the fortieth Ladies’ Seminar at the Independent Bible Church of Duryea. So many fond memories and dear friends greeted me there. I supposed it’s a part of old age, but for me, it was a sobering thought to think of all the friends are now with the Lord, and I must wonder if they were looking over the embankments of heaven and enjoying the gathering as well!
Over 200 ladies were there, and the spirit was sweet, the fellowship refreshing, and the teaching of God’s Word useful, practical, and heartfelt (Thank you, June Kimmel). What a fellowship—what a joy divine! We have something that the world cannot understand. Why would any woman want to spend her Saturday sitting in church listening to, not just one but, three Bible lessons? BORING!
When we gather with born-again believers, the Spirit takes over, not in a Pentecostal way, but like a warm summer breeze. He refreshes us, teaches us, and fills our hearts with love, joy, and peace. The Word strengthens us to continue in the battle—and it IS a battle! The camaraderie reminds us that we are not alone, especially for those of us who return to our small churches out in the corner of nowhere! J The singing was awesome—so strong, worshipful, and heartfelt. And one of the most endearing moments of the day is always the skit. Praise the Lord for laughter! Monsters, Inc. got it right: laughter is so much more powerful than fear.
I hope you have a group that you can fellowship with. You may not all be “one the same page” on every issue, but the foundation is squarely set on the fundamental doctrines of God’s Word. Truth always wins. Truth speaks. Truth unites. Truth wins. And, I can’t help thinking that the Lord must smile when He see His daughters walking in truth.
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” 3 John 1:4
