The 46 days before Easter (40 weekdays and six Sundays) has been called Lent since the 4th century. It is not a biblical mandate and there are no references to it in the Bible. However, the idea of taking extra time and effort to draw close to our God and Savior, Jesus Christ before the most important day on the believer’s calendar seems like a worthy prospect.
For that reason, my husband and I put together a 40-devotional. STARTING TOMORROW each week will have a different topic and each day, except Sunday, will have a correlating Bible reference. The goal is to read the verse(s) and then write down your thoughts. Then on Wednesdays, we will gather at the church to put our thoughts together and grow in our understanding of God’s precious Word. (If you live in the area you are welcome to join us at Steam Valley Bible Church, 570 SR 183, Trout Run, Pa 17771)
The topics are:
- Who is Jesus, a look at His “I am” statements
- Parables of Jesus’ last week
- Prophecies surrounding Jesus’ death
- Miracles of Jesus’ last month of earthly ministry
- Passover/Last Supper
- Triumphal Entry
I will be posting the daily verses and including my thoughts. I’d be glad for any journeymen who would like to join me in this study. Just post your comments and we’ll share our thoughts. Click here to download your copy!
